Pygmy hippopotamus

Choeropsis liberiensis

Pygmy hippopotamus’s description

I am not very famous because I am small, discreet and lonesome, on the contrary of my cousin, the common hippopotamus, who lives in a group. However, like him, I am herbivorous and spend the most of my time in the water.

Where do I live ?

I live in Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Which threats ?

Deforestation threatens my habitat which is transformed into rubber trees or oil palm cultures. Fortunately, I am not hunted very much, but this could change because my meat has, apparently, an excellent taste.

Kiwiwho’s word to save the pygmy hippopotamus
